It’s Bristol Baby!!!
Race weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway did not disappoint. We were able to cover the Truck, and Cup race and everything in between.
Having a local racer in the pack for the Camping World Truck Series was an incredible opportunity to get our locals some spotlight time on a national stage. Mike Marlar drove the 33 truck and had a great run all night. Mike is from Scott County and is a local racing legend. We were able to catch up with him for an interview prior to the race.
He finished 17th on the dirt but spun out and crashed as he crossed the finish line.
Ben Rhodes brought home the victory as you can read the full results here.
The NASCAR Cup Series brought back dirt this year to the track which helped bring an extra challenge to the racing. Some drivers liked the dirt, others like Aric Almirola said “Dirt is for growing potatoes.”
It definitely made for an exciting weekend but as the weather moved in we saw lots of delays during the Cup race. As always Kyle Busch had a strong car all evening but on the last restart was unable to keep up with Tyler Reddick and Chase Briscoe. As a turn of luck would have it Briscoe went into turn 4 underneath Reddick to go for the lead and spun both out and Busch was able to pass both to pick up his first win of the season.
