In a display of exceptional skill and determination, Christopher Bell secured his third consecutive NASCAR Cup Series victory at the Shriners Children’s 500 held at Phoenix Raceway on March 9, 2025. This remarkable achievement not only underscores Bell’s dominance but also places him among the elite drivers in NASCAR history.
A Historic Feat
Bell’s winning streak began with victories at Atlanta Motor Speedway and the Circuit of the Americas, culminating in his recent triumph at Phoenix. This series of wins makes him the first driver since Kyle Larson in 2021 to clinch three consecutive Cup Series races and the first to do so in the Next Gen car era. Such a feat highlights Bell’s emergence as a formidable competitor in the sport.
The Phoenix Showdown
Starting from the 11th position, Bell showcased strategic brilliance throughout the race. A pivotal moment occurred during a late-race caution, setting up a two-lap shootout for the win. Bell’s No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota battled fiercely with teammate Denny Hamlin’s No. 11 Toyota in the final corners. In a nail-biting finish, Bell edged out Hamlin by a mere 0.049 seconds, marking his second consecutive victory in the spring race at Phoenix.
Bell’s Reflections
Elated by his achievement, Bell addressed the Phoenix crowd, exclaiming, “How about that one, race fans? Oh, my gosh!” He further reflected on the race’s challenges, noting the intense competition during the final laps.
The top five finishers of the Shriners Children’s 500 were:
- Christopher Bell (No. 20 Toyota)
- Denny Hamlin (No. 11 Toyota)
- Kyle Larson (No. 5 Chevrolet)
- Josh Berry (No. 21 Ford)
- Chris Buescher (No. 17 Ford)
